Doornbos donates over £17,000 to chosen charities

1 December 2019

Doornbos Equipment have supported 3 charities over the past year as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility commitment.

The first of our chosen charities was Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice – a charity which we have been an Ambassador for since 2015. Zoe’s Place is a children’s charity providing palliative, respite and end of life care to babies and infants aged from birth to five years suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

We kicked off our fundraising efforts for Zoe’s Place with a ‘Tour De Branch’, raising just under £4000! Tour De Branch saw Team Doornbos cycle over 150 miles from Doornbos HQ’s in Rotterdam to Doornbos HQ’s in Billingham.

Our second fundraiser for Zoe’s Place (a personal favorite of Steve Buxton’s – our UK Depot Manager) was the Romanby Golf Day. This particular fundraiser is one that Team Doornbos like to be involved with every year. From organising the event, to volunteering and taking part on the day. This year we broke previous records and managed to raise a massive £9000!!

The second of our chosen charities was the Great North Air Ambulance. The GNAA provides emergency air ambulance services for the North-East, North Yorkshire, Cumbria and Scottish borders and is completely funded by donations. Team Doornbos pledged a team to take part in the 80 mile football club ground, bike ride. Starting from Darlington Football Club, all the way through to Newcastle Untied Football Club. Rain and winds did not stop Team Doornbos from raising £4000 for the GNNA.

The third of our chosen charities was Macmillan Cancer Support. Macmillan provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. It also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have and campaigns for better cancer care. Team Doornbos supported Macmillan Cancer by hosting a Coffee Morning. This year we decided to combine our coffee morning with our Vertidrive demonstration day, in a bid to raise the most we could for Macmillan. And this combination didn’t disappoint as we managed to raise our most yet, £441! We even had a visit from our Local MP – Alex Cunningham.

Team Doornbos would like to send a huge THANK YOU to those who have donated, volunteered and supported us this past year and have helped us to make a difference to so many wonderful charities.

Hopefully 2020 will be the year Team Doornbos raise over £20,000 for our chosen charities! 🤞
