Doornbos supports 3 local charities for 2021

15 March 2021

Doornbos Equipment prides itself on giving back to local charities. Every year, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility Commitment, we try to give back to the local community. Whether that be through fundraising, donations, or offering up our time to give a helping hand.

Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, last year saw a lot of our fundraising activities put on hold. However, we did still manage to go ahead with the North East FGR. This event saw Team Doornbos, along with many others, cycle over 80 miles in aid of The Great North Air Ambulance. Collectively we managed to raise over £6000 for the Great North Air Ambulance!

Doornbos also decided to donate 10% of all hires to NHS Charities Together, throughout April and May last year.

For 2021, Doornbos are proud to be sponsoring 3 amazing, local charities.

The first of which is the MFC Foundation. The MFC Foundation is the independent charitable arm of Middlesbrough FC, working across Teesside to raise aspirations and change lives for the better.  MFC Foundation work with over 35,000 disadvantaged people every year to help make Teesside a better place to live, learn, work and play. Doornbos Equipment have pledged £2000 in support of MFC Foundation and are on board as a Gold Partner. So far this donation has helped the MFC Foundation send out 2000 food parcels to families across Teesside and is helping to support the continuation of the courses and programmes set up by the Foundation. As well as a monetary donation, Doornbos are also planning a Golf Day (date TBC) in aid MFC Foundation and all monies raised will go to the charity.

The second local charity Doornbos Equipment are sponsoring is the Great North Air Ambulance. The GNAA provide air ambulance services across the North East, Cumbria and North Yorkshire. For the fourth year in a row. Doornbos are the headline sponsor for the North East FGR in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service. This event will be taking place (Covid restrictions permitting) on Sunday 5th September 2021 and will see cyclists tackle a choice of 3 routes! Different from other years, this year we have decided to offer 3 routes for cyclists to chose from. A 10 miler for families and children, a 50 mile route and a 100 mile route for those who really want to push themselves out of their comfort zone! Registration for this event is now open and already over 100 cyclists are taking part!

The final charity Doornbos are sponsoring is the Butterwick Hospice. The Butterwick Hospice works within the local community to provide compassionate, dignified care and support where it is needed the most. Doornbos will be judging the 16+ category for The Big Butterwick Build, which is calling out for budding builders and enthusiastic engineers to create an original big build based around the theme ‘care’.
